What is a fire shutter and what does it actually do?
Window fire shutters can be seen on many commercial and where required, residential buildings. They are mostly used for added security to create a versatile, visible and very strong steel wall to stop unwanted visitors entering property. Fire shutters can help to ensure people get out of the building safely and reducing the damage that fire can cause. Shutters can be used to section off and protect particular parts of a building, the whole building and even provide protection between floors with horizontal fire shutters. Fireshutters.au boundary window and door fire shutters offers all the values of a traditional shutter but with added 2 hour (120 Minute) fire protection that is required for many development approvals.

Will the fire shutter meet the requirements for development application approvals?

Yes. Every Fireshutters 2 Hour Rated Window and Door Fire Shutter is:

• Tested and Certified by the CSIRO in August 2022 to the latest standard 2014.

• Certified FRL -/120/- and fit for purpose to the building code of Australia

Who should I buy a roller fire shutter from?

Sadly, anyone can manufacture window shutters or carry out their installation. Without access to a reliable source of information the manufacturer or installer will not be aware of the Building Code of Australia, Health and Safety or the legalities required of them. Fireshutters.au produce products to the highest standard and have a disciplined procedure for 'factory production control'. Our installation engineers are trained both in-house and externally. All senior engineers have vast experience in the installation of roller shutters.

Can you paint my shutter in a specific colour?

Standard colour is galvanised steel pelmet with 304 stainless steel curtain and tracks, the palmet box can be powder coated or painted to a standard RAL colour or specific colour of your choice. Contact our knowledgeable staff for more information.

Will I be able to see the window fire shutter once it’s installed?

Fire shutters are a little more obtrusive by nature. These systems are much bigger and a little more difficult to hide. This doesn’t mean we cannot make them less obvious though. If there is a void above the location where you want the fire shutter to be fixed then we will often be able to hide the head box inside that void.

What does a fire shutter from Fireshutters.au cost?

This question is difficult to answer without more information. It depends on various things like the size of the opening, the product, and any accessories you require. What we can say is that our prices are competitive. If you have a specific project in mind it's best to contact us for a quote.

Do I need to supply project drawings?

If you can your house plans or drawings to us, then we will be able to quote more accurately and you might not need a site inspection. This alone will save you money on the overall costs of your unit. Please note that rough drawings will only enable us to give rough prices, for an exact quotation a site inspection will be required.
